Restrictions in Kashmir will be eased to allow Fridayprayers in local mosques. There will, however, be no Friday congregation at thehistoric Jama Masjid here.Officials said the move comes after National SecurityAdvisor Ajit Doval directed authorities to ensure that no Kashmiris wereharassed. The officials clarified that people will be allowed to offer prayersin mosques located in their locality.
Ahead of the prayers, security forces have been put on highalert across Kashmir. "Elaborate arrangements have been put in place.Situation is being closely monitored across the Valley", a senior officialtold .
Prayers at smaller mosques at mohallas will be allowedamidst tight security checks at most places. Scores of barricades have beenplaced across Srinagar city with paramilitary forces on alert."Today, theyhave restrictions have been heightened. They are checking everyone and onlyallowing those with a medical issues or an emergency," a local said.
